Hanahan PoGo Launches New Community Website to Connect Local Pokémon GO Players

HANAHAN, S.C. — July 31, 2026 — Hanahan PoGo is excited to announce the launch of HanahanPoGo.com, a new online home for Hanahan’s growing Pokémon GO community. The website will serve as a central hub to connect players to online resources (Campfire and Discord groups) for upcoming events, meetup information, community news, photo galleries, and resources for both new and experienced Trainers.

Since February 2025, Hanahan PoGo has proudly served as an official Pokémon GO Community Ambassador community. Community Ambassadors are volunteers selected through Niantic’s application process, which includes a background check and review of their commitment to creating safe, welcoming, and inclusive local communities. Ambassadors work closely with the Pokémon GO community team to organize in-person events, encourage positive gameplay, and help players connect with one another through shared experiences.

Hanahan’s Community Ambassadors, Bryan Smith and Richard Ocampo, have both been playing Pokémon GO since the game’s launch in 2016. Their shared vision has always been simple: use the game as a way to bring neighbors together.

“Pokémon GO has become much more than a mobile game,” said Bryan Smith, Community Ambassador. “It creates a true third space—a place outside of home and work where people of all ages can meet, walk, explore, laugh, and build genuine friendships. We’ve watched complete strangers become regular walking partners and lifelong friends.”

Over the past year and a half, Hanahan PoGo has welcomed hundreds of players to Community Days, Raid Hours, Gigantamax Battles, GO Fest celebrations, and family-friendly meetups throughout the city. The community includes children playing alongside parents, college students, working professionals, retirees, and everyone in between.

A major contributor to the group’s success has been the welcoming environment provided by Bowen Waterfront Village and Bowen Marketplace. Their walkable design, scenic waterfront views, inviting public gathering spaces, and locally owned businesses have created an ideal setting for community events. Regular meetups often begin with coffee, continue through raids and neighborhood walks, and end with conversations, meals, or ice cream—turning game events into meaningful social experiences.

The launch of HanahanPoGo.com represents the next step in that mission. The website gives residents and visitors an easy way to discover upcoming events, learn about the local community, and find out how to get involved—whether they’ve been playing since 2016 or are downloading the game for the very first time.

Everyone is welcome. No experience is necessary, and players of all ages are encouraged to attend local events, meet fellow Trainers, and experience firsthand how a simple mobile game can strengthen community connections.
